(We already have a great Decktop at home) it has to be i build it ......I am not really into laptop Did she make a good choice....And what do you think about the service plan...Her work takes her out to job sites...So there is a chance for the laptop to be knock around. Bestbuy told her that the service plan would pay for itself, because the battery don't really last three years. This is right?? or just bull...Thanks for any info on this.....

That sounnds like a good buy to me. I would hope that a 3 year service plan costing that much covers accidental damage though. Batteries do get weaker over time but a lot of people tend to get their notebook to where they want to be and then plug it in so the battery isn't always being used anyway.
If you intend on playing around with it the graphic will let you down but you only mention work related activities so it should serve you well

most definately if it covers accidental damage. There's nothing worse than getting a notebook damaged while doing your job and finding that it cant be fixed.
Generally speaking that notebook should keep going for a few years doing normal work relared activities. I would try and find out if it covers accidental damade still though as this is important due to the likelyhood of it being taken to rough environments such as building sites

IBM also has this new line of laptops called "Toughbooks" I think. If you drop them, or spill something on them, etc, they'll be fine, hence the name.
