Advice needed for Laptop.

This will be used for mostly Internet. Some times burning CDs, watching DVDs, and some CAD.

I would like to be able to directly hook a mouse (most important) and keyboard to the computer. Will eventually have a Wireless network but would like to get started with a wired setup first.

I have a printer with Jet direct card and a LPT1 port is there a way to hook a laptop directly to the LPT1 port? If not what about directly to the Jet direct card? I eventually would like a network that would share a printer with a wired desktop and a laptop with wire lease connection.

What laptop would you recomend in the $800 range?

What do you think about this model? How could I look this up to a printer?
