I've had my laptop for coming up to two years, but in the last two months or so I have seen an error every few weeks. It seems to come up at random times, but often when I wake my laptop up from hibernation. It's really annoying because the only thing which I can do is hit the power button and it turns off immediately.

I took a picture of the screen when it happened earlier today.



I run Win XP Home, with all of the latest updates/patches, do weekly Spybot Search and Destroy and Adaware Personal Edition scans, have McAfee Virusscan and do frequent defrags.

Does anyone know what this error is, and why it keeps coming up lately? Thanks.

Blue screen usualy have to do with errors encountered on the hard drive. When you run the defrag and error checking tool, be sure they are done in safe mode. You can find these by going to my computer, right click c drive, properties, tools

I ran an error check and am defraging at the moment. Do you think that this could be some sort of spyware/adware? I mean it only appeared lately, I've had it for over a year and a half with no such problem, and lately it has been happening regularly.

It could be spyware/malware relate. Try running Hijackthis (more info. under computer security thread), and post a log, somebody will be able to review it.

Don't know if this will be of much help to you but from what I have read from Microsoft's website, it looks like the driver for the usbhub is damaged in some way. I guess you could try either updating the driver (if there is an update) or reinstalling it. Here is where I got the information: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;330182
