I think there's too little talk about guitars on this CF, although there are quite a few of us guitarists posting.
This thread is about shred guitar, as you should have understood from the title. Shredding is also known as wanking. Just search Google Video and you'll see it's true. Those who don't know what shred is about, don't worry it's a pretty simple concept: Play as many notes as fast as you can. But the trick is, make it sound good. I'll start by posting links about the great Rusty Cooley, an amazing shred guitarist. He's one of the few guitarists that play 8-string guitars, but he seems to favor the 7-strings over 6 and 8-string guitars. Google Video links #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 Other shredders are -Paul Gilbert -The Great KAT, one of the few known female shredders -Michael Angelo Batio, both left and right handed, with unique guitars, 2 and 4 guitar sets put together one in V shape and the 4 guitar set in X shape. -Yngwie Malmsteen, from Sweden -Vinnie Moore -Buckethead, was in the Guns N' Roses "reincarnation" -John Petrucci -Joe Satriani -Tony MacAlpine -Steve Vai -Michael Romeo, from Symphony X If you want to check out some "freakier" shred, check out Mattias IA Eklundh. He's from Sweden, maybe tweaker has heard of him. EDIT: And one fast Finnish guitarist, Timo Tolkki from Stratovarius.

Wow.
How long has that guy been playing for? I've nearly been playing for 4 years and I can't move my fingers that fast yet...

It says on his homepage that he got his first guitar when he was 15. Can't find any birthdates on him anywhere though on the net. But then again Steve Vai has been playing since he was 13 years old and now he's about 48-50 years old and still going strong.
I've been playing for about 4 years myself too, like everything else it takes a lot of practice to be that fast. Not that I'm anywhere close to that though. ![]()

Jealous of their 1337 skillz?
![]() Cause I am a bit, but I don't mind. I just try my best to improve and I don't compare myself too much to anybody else. And they didn't play like that immediately the first time they picked up a guitar, they worked a lot on playing that fast and accurately. So it's possible for anybody to become that good.

Not really, effects pedals are so damn expensive in the shops nearby. Only effect I have is the built-in reverb on my Ibanez TB-50R amp.
But I'm trying to design a homemade "wahwah" pedal to use with my distortion pedal. You can get some cool sounds by turning the Freq. knob on the pedal but it's not easy to play and turn the knob so I'm gonna make a wahwah like pedal to turn it with my foot.

Found a Digitech GNX3 in a nearby shop. Not the company in the link.
