Default Absolutely NO sound

Well, I've reinstalled Windows repeatedly in the last few days, originally due to a virus. Today, I did some cable management, stuck in a hard drive from an old computer to get some info, turned comp back on, and no sound.

All volume settings were fine, it was playing the track, audio drivers up to date.
Tried each jack at the back, nothing.
It's not a problem with the speakers/headphones.
Reinstalled Windows (with a full format of the drive), and removed that extra drive.
Updated drivers and d-loaded all window updates.
...What the hell?

All I can think is that this may have been triggered by the removal of all of the front panel cables from the mobo (2xUSB, a Firewire, microphone and headphone jack) during the cable management.

EDIT: It seems the problem was that I didn't have the front audio cable plugged into the mobo. Do I need to set some sort of jumper to solve this problem?

EDIT2: Well, ignore this post. I can now remember removing a jumper beofre putting the cable on, so I just need to get the jumper back on.
