Question XP or Sempron?

The clue is in the question on this one.

What Sempron equates to an XP? And which is better value?

For example XP 2500+ Barton or Sempron 3000+??

Mobile XP 2600+ will do better than Sempron 3000+ overclocked. Greater cache, less heat....i'd go with XP-M 2600+.

Whoa ... not a chance. Dont forget that the Sempron 3000+ is, for all intents and purposes, a Athlon64 without any knowledge of what to do with 64bit .. and has all the OC capabilities of a S754 chip

Seems like i made a reading error too (but overall am still right ) Heres the breakdown

Sempron 2400 = Socket 462 1.67GHz 256K
Sempron 2500 = Socket 462 1.75GHz 256K
Sempron 2600 = Socket 462 1.83GHz 256K
Sempron 2800 = Socket 462 2.00GHz 256K
Sempron 3000 = Socket 462 2.00GHz 512K <--> AthlonXP 3000
Sempron 3100 = Socket 754 1.67GHz 256K

And with regards to the AthlonXP-Mobiles, dont forget they all run 266MHz bussies

they start at 2400? wow didn't know that. but why the <-->? i would think the Sempron would not be comparable to the XP chip as it's 64bit.

and what does default bus speed matter? i heard you say that a few times but i don't know why. it's easily upped to 400, i got mine on 480. are you just stating thaty for non overclockers?

If you look at the list, only the 3100 is a Socket754

Not everyone overclocks.

dope, you're right. i didn't notice 462 lol, thought they all said 754. and yah...i figured that's what you meant by it. i couldn't think of any other explanation lol. if i wanted to run default voltage and all that, i would just use 200*10 stead of 133*15 though, i dont consider that overclocking really.

Depends on if the upclock to 200 means other components OC too
