Thats very strange because I have one nvida 6600 and I play HL2 episode 1 on high setting at 1024x768 2xAA, 4XAF and with HDR
My nvidia 6600 is oveclocked from 300/500 to 345/570 (but I can play HL2 on highest setting without overclocking)
and I have forceware 91.47

What drivers do you have ?
Have you tried the to play Counterstrike with one 6600
