Default XP folders

Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition 2002(non-upgraded--those things mess up my comp)

Problem(s):
-Can't revert file and folder icons back to default after switching back to normal windows xp theme from alienware invader theme.
-File folders now have "Find"(aka search) as their default option(double-click on folder opens up search window instead of opening folder).

I have went into my folder options and found that I might be able to switch the folder icons back one by one, but that's a very tedius task and I think there might be an easier way to do this. I also found that "find" is listed as the only action in the advanced options for "file folder"(tools>folder options>file folder>advanced). Folder(listed directly below file folder) has open and explore listed as its only two options.

I would like to be able to switch everything back to the way they're supposed to be by windows default, any suggestions?

How do the upgrades mess with your computer?

Im not sure on some of those problems but to restore the folder default click option go to the control panel. Switch to classic view and open folder options. Go to the third tab and look for file types that have folder icons and file ext set to none.

Do this for each item (probably one or two and just torwards the top):
Select the item in the list in the upper half.
In the lower half torwards the bottom right click the advanced button. If the button says restore then I cannot help you.
In the dialog box select the open option and click the set as default button.

Sorry if this doesn't work.

i've had the same problem as for the opening of the search window. I was busy for about 4 days asking anybody i know. (i'm an IT student so i asked a lot of knowledgable people) but nothing worked.

To keep things short format the crappy thing.

I found the fix for the search thing when I double-click a folder, it's here:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs...penssearch.reg

Edit: I was able to restore my icons back to their defaults by uninstalling AlienGUISe(theme manager distributed freely by Alienware).

And I highly doubt you are an IT student Viper, I would expect a more intelligent response from an IT student(no matter how far along they are in the class).
