Default Which socket for conroe cpu

socket 939 or am2?

Neither. Why would Intel use AMD sockets(did I miss something)? I think it's going to be LGA775, but that doesn't mean any mobo with that socket will be compatible with the Conroe.

i believe currently the 975 chipset supports it... but none of the others. i could be wrong though.

Yes, LGA775 and 975s as well as 965 (same release date) will support it

yea... the 975 and 965 are chipsets... not sockets. just to keep you from getting confused of course.

Great choice. Iv seen some of the test the Conroe has run and i must say it is the most impressive thing iv seen. Intel is turning around, just might leave AMD in the dust.

Well no, but thats pretty impressive also. I was talkin more about the Pi test iv seen, wasnt it around 20 secs for the 1m? My northwood takes 45secs........
