Talking Happy Independence Day

The date is July 4th, 1776... After years of oppression from our cruel British overlords, the people of what will later be called United States of America unite, defying King George III and his tea drinking subjects in an effort or heroism, courage, and bravery...The United States is born!

Following another American victory verses the UK in 1812, tension slows down. By 2006, the United States and Great Britain have patched up their differences and are now each others strongest allies, British tea consumption has significantly dropped, and the United States has emerged onto the world scene as a global military and economic superpower.

Today is a day for Americans to appreciate the great country they are lucky enough to be citizens of... Sure, it has its flaws, as does any country, but let me tell you, it's one of the best in the world!

If you are American, take a moment to think about the men & women who died to ensure our freedom. If you’re British, you can be proud at the wonderful nation your rebellious child has become. And if you’re Canadian or Australian, give your older brother your congratulations.

So light some fireworks, have a barbecue, go to a baseball game...
I'll be watching on TV the great American tradition of over-eating (dominated by Asians) at the Cooney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest

Happy 4th of July!
