Since you are not gonna get rid of XP and it's gonna install as a second Operating System it'll take at least 4GB's.

monkeysims, if you had read anything about Vista in any of the topics about Vista in this forum, you would have known that it will require 15GB of free space.

WTF 15GB???. I do hope they include Office, the complete macromedia package and a lot of other crap i can get rid off. I mean 15GB that's a quarter of my boot partition. I wasn't planning to get vista right away anyway but i do hope you can remove a lot of it. It's just my operating system i dunno about you guys but if i can't get the size of vista under 6GB i'm seriously considering switching to a linux distro.

It doesn't require 15GB of space, it requires 15GB of space for "a Premium ready PC"
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvist...y/capable.mspx

I have installed it myself with it taking much lesss then that.

ah then they probably also include the page file (i think about 2gb). But still... why do you need 15gb free space to be a premium ready pc???

Everything today takes up lots of space, the new games that are out take up around 3-6GB each! And with hard drive prices extremely cheap, there really isnt a reason why you cant afford at least a 120GB drive.

yep but i've got an 80gb laptop. With a 60gb partition for my os. then my os only will take up about 10gb . That's just way to much for me. I'm gonna buy me a new laptop somewhere in the next year. With at least 2 hd's . I'm not gonna install vista till i've got that. Probably won't be able to get a final version of vista earlier anyway.
