Default Need help, changed CPU and its messed up BIG TIME

I had a 2.7ghz Celeron northwood and just replaced it with a pentium 4 2.8ghz northwood. Motherboard is a ECS L4VXA2, BIOS is Phoenix Technologies version 6.00 dated 03/11/2003. I had the celeron overclocked at 3.024ghz. I just put the pentium 4 in and in CPUZ, it says it is a pentium 4 2.8ghz processor but it is running at 1861.4ghz. WHAT THE CRAP. I don't get it. Did I mess something up? Multiplier is X 14.0, FSB is 133.0mhz, bus speed is 531.8mhz, L1 Data 8kBytes, L1 Trace 12kbs, Level 2 512KBytes. CPU voltage is 1.47v. Everest Home says INtel Pentium 4, 1866MHZ (14X133). What does all this mean and why in the world is it not 2.8ghz? Also, what do I need to do to overclock it? My buddy built this computer and I think he set the something in the BIOS from 100 to 112 and that put it at a 14% overclock which gave the 3.024GHZ. I'd like to overclock this one too. I tried to do the same thing and it didn't work. Thanks

Instead of checking everest, check the bios. Also, i'm exactly sure about this, but you might need to update the bios.

Ok, thanks. I looked in the BIOS and was unsure of what to change. I'll go the the ECS website and try to update the BIOS. I'll let you know what happens

Ok, I'm confused on the whole BIOS update/flash thing. Anyways, I reset the BIOS with according to the manual. The clock speed in BIOS is 100mhz and CPU is running at 1.4GHZ now. I had the CPU clock speed set at the highest number, 165mhz and the CPU went to 2.2GHZ. No Idea what is going on.

Ok, the Current FSB speed is 133mhz and I can't figure out how to get it higher. It won't let me. According to the ECS website, the 2.8ghz Pentium Northwood will work. Yet I can't get this thing much over 2ghz. Anyone know what to do? I called my friend and he told me to get the FSB frequency up but I can't.

I would say update the BIOS, It's pretty easy if you have a floppy disk and drive.

Ok, it's not as easy as DFI. You'll have to use Winflash, and I'm not really in a position to walk you thru it.

well, I can't even get it to read a disk now. It says insert disk and hit enter. I did that and nothing happens. Do I need a new motherboard?
