Hi,
I'm new to the whole Photoshop and I need some help. I am trying to edit a section out of a picture, to make a signature for a website etc. Know I make a mask around the image and then I select subtract from image to fine tooth the mask around where I want the mask to be. I understand you have to click and expand the box or whatever shape mask you want to subtract from the image, but is there a quicker way, say a constant subtract from mask square? I know they have this tool in Corel Photopaint 6 etc. where the square mask tool was constant and you could just drag it along to make a perfect mask around the picture. Is there anyway to do this in Photoshop, or even easier ways? Thanks, -JTM |

I use both Photopaint and Photoshop. I can't understand from your description what you are trying to do, in particular what you are trying to draw the mask around. Can you give a better description of that, omitting any detail about mask drawing techniques, which is confusing? Are you talking about a purely rectangular mask?
In your post I have no clue to what "then I select subtract from image to fine tooth the mask around where I want the mask to be" means. Starman* |

Are you trying to remove something from the background or remove the background from something?
If you don't mind, post screenshots of what you are trying to do, like when you mask the image and post it here. It'll be easier to understand and asist you.

It sounds almost like you want to save the selection so that you can easily get the exact same selection later. But that's just how understood it.
If that's the case then just click on Selection after making a selection. Then Save Selection and name it and voila! Later on just load it by clicking on Selection and then Load Selection.
