Very Retarded AIM Problem

So my AIM was being a homo and I decided to reinstall it. now as soon as I open it after installing, it just goes like, would you like to set AIM as your default messenger? and I can't do anything. that box just freezes and if I click anything on it, it's not responding.

ideas? I downloaded triton and it works, but it's really REALLY annoying and I'd really REALLLLY like to have my old AIM back.

edit: I guess I could adjust to triton, besides one thing thats annoying. it formatted my screenname to be Spike27Z instead of spike27z which looks utterly homorific. anyone know how to fix that in triton...?
