Reinstalling windows help?!?

heres my situation: i tried installing windows xp with a disc but a data error popped up saying the disc could be scratched and it was, so i went to borrow another xp disc from a friend and tried to restart the entire setup but the "boot from disc" doesnt come up. Is there a way to get it back?

are you sure that the cd is set to primary boot in bios

well ive never heard of a xp disc that wasn;t bootable, but its not beyond the range of possibility. Try it on a different rig is the only way to tell?

well i put teh cd in a working pc and the normal windows xp window popped up

do you mean you restared with the cd in, and the cd booted to the windows installation screen

oh no i meant the pc was already on and the window popped up. i'll try booting it up on the cd
