hello
after screwing up the pc i reloaded windows xp. if i do a search for instance of a program (nero) that was in before but was not reloaded a whole list of nero stuff comes up. it's in the program files somewhere as well as other programs. i thought that when doing a complete reload that they would be gone. it doesn't seem to be causing any trouble but i'm just puzzled about it. also can i still reload nero or can i just retrieve it since it's still somehow in there? great forum! |

All your files should still be there then, go to c:/documents and settings/oldusername/
Some of your prorgrams may work, but many will not, you will have to reinstall them anyways. Last edited by Arm_Pit; 07-06-2006 at 06:33 AM. |

If you did a search for the Nero files the search results will tell you exactly where the files are. Search should give the full file path. Older Nero progs are in the Program Files\Ahead folder.
Many documents that have disappeared will be recoverable. There are a number of recovery utilities. In freeware PC Inspector is the most popular. I use payware File Scavenger. The better file recovery utilities can find some files even if the partitions have changed. Starman* |
