Default The question most asked by new guys..

Hi guys.
This is my 1st post . I am contemplating building a computer and was surfing the alienware site. Damn. Not payin those prices so..... Budget 2500 ish
Was looking into this http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch...iteria=BA22707 but dam 1100 for a proccesor? ...will it do my laundry and cook and go on beer runs too? heh.Basically im a big time gamer and if thats the best chip i will get it.Was also lookin into a asus A8N32-SLI , 2048 PC3200 400 mhz dual channel ram , Nvidia Geforce 7950 GX2.
Honestly i just looked at alienware and wrote down some of their selections.
Ive owned 3 computers to date...HP , Satellite laptop and i built a pc 2 years ago. All had intel chips. I have been hearing from alot of peep and on here that AMD is very good for gaming so even though intel has a new chip coming out i am considerin just gettin a top o the line amd. Unless one of you guys has a ruff idea about the new intel chip...capabilites etc.
My last comp i purchased most of the parts online via tigerdirect and newegg.
if i remember correctly a abit motherboard ic7g mac 2 ...2.4 chip...radeon vid card.Admittedly it was easy since i work for a computer telephony company and alot of the guys here are computer engineers and such. but i was there and i did the work they directed me.BLeh i ramble....
What i want need is a kick ass gaming computer.
i love games like half life 2 and all 1st person shooters. I also have been addicted to evercrack since it came out in 99.
all i use my comp for is 1. Games 2. Porn 3. playin movies heh porn n non porn.
the comp i build here will never see a porn site ... my comp that i built is fooked atm and i have peep at work checkin it out fer me . major viruses
So even if it is up and running i wanna make a new comp and i figued this would be a good place for suggestions. 2500 ish and amd preferably...been dyin to check themn out. ok late and i need some sleep . lookin forward to any responses this may get and i thank you in advance.
Rob

hello and welcome to the forums. I was also looking at that processor and to tell you the truth I don't think you really need it if all your using your computer for gaming. Also it's a little inapropriat around here to say stuff about surffing porn and watching it.

yea, even though most of us do the same thing *coughs and looks around* here we try to stay on the "appropriate" side of things.

AMD is more made for gaming than intel is. i would switch over to amd if you'll be mostly gaming on it

ya for right now AMD is the best but when core duo 2 comes out it will be better for gaming so i wait tell the end of July and then pay about $300 or a little more for a processor that will beat that $1100 processor.

You could wait for conroe to come out. Then prices will drop on the other CPU's.

Isn't that a little extreme? I wouldn't think a $300 proc would be one of the fx's.

Thx for your responces so far guys.
I was wondering if anyone can draw up 2 mock builds , one as a AMD Based set up the other a Intel with the new chip. 2500 ish is what i am lookin to spend. Thats just the Computer and essentials...no mouse keyboard or monitor. I was also wondering if anyone has heard any benchmark data or other general info on the new intel chip. Assuming its as good as peep are thinkin it will be do you guys really think it will blow the present top AMD away?I keep hearing about how AMD is more suited of the 2 for gaming purposes. One other question . 2vid cards in a gaming rig..... thoughts?

One thing to mention . I will be looking for a system that i can upgrade and get some life out of. On that note what is the AMD responce to the new intel chip ... is anything in the works new processor wise? If so i guess ill need a motherboard capable of running that when it comes out at a leter date.
