Exclamation Any help would work

Well i just built a computer for the first time. Everything works well and all except for whenever any type of window is open, weather internet or program, and i try to scroll down or drag the window around it lags.

Im positive everything was installed right and ive only installed a couple programs like norton system works and internet security as well as microsoft office 2003. I have 1 gig of ram, a pentium 4 3.0ghz, and 160gig of disk space, Geforce 6500 video card and an asus p5nd2-sli mb.

Only major adjustments made, if you can call them major, is i went into msconfig and turned off win.ini and system.ini plus through the performence settings in my computer i changed the virtual memory to system managed size.

any input would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried looking at the task manager when you scroll to see if any process takes up a large amount of the cpu? And of course there is always the option of reformatting.
