Question Anti Virus and etc.

I was at the store looking for some software, and I needed windows xp, an anti virus, and anti spyware. I saw a windows xp all in one package that has anti virus, anti spyware, and more. Should I buy that? Also is norton and spysweep good to get if don't get the all in one? And what else do I need to keep my comp secured?

If you want the most secure PC i would get Nortan antivirus and Internet security, if you have a local Frys Electronics you can get a nortan all in one pack right now for only 60$ after rebates(Includes the works, ghost, partition magic, AV, IS, everything)

One thing bad about notran is it has the tendacy to use excesive amounts of ram compared to other AV, so I would NOT get it if you have 256MB of ram, and maybe not if you have 512MB depending on what your doing on your PC, if your gamning then definatly not.

[PS. Nortan was rated to have the highest detection rate]

I personally like the combination of Ad-Aware, ZoneAlarm Firewall, and either Norton or Avast! as antivirus. Norton is the only one you have to pay for.

That'd be a first, what's your source?

Get CA eTrust Security Suite

The anti-virus is more reliable than norton and doesn't rrrraaape ram. The firewall included is almost exactly like zone alarm. I've had zero problems since installing it.

It's $40 on amazon and I think they still have the -$40 rebate

Well, it all depends on what version of Norton they used, and what other products they tested it against. In all reliable tests, it comes out second or third at best, and worse than that on unknowns.

I used norton, and Avast is better.

Also, Norton is incredibly hard to remove. The only way to do so is to reformat/reinstall.
