I have a 80GB EIDE HD with an 8MB cache @ 7200RPM- it's brand new. I bought it for my "old" machine when I thought the original HD was bad. It turns out that my machine just took a crap and died and the HD had nothing to do with it. Now I'm stuck using a PII that I bought in 1999 until I build my new box in August.
Anywhooo... my question is; will the new HD work with the new AM2 Mobos or do I need to buy a SATA HD? A lot has changed since I last had my hand in the box, and I know frame rates have nothing to do with HD's, so I'm trying to save as much money as possible on the new build. I tried looking this up but most people don't say anything about SATA or EIDE (perhaps that's how far behind the times I am) with the new mobo's. I see SATA support listed on their specs, but does that mean they only support SATA or will my "old" EIDE work? Thanks in advance. |
