Default 5.1 system

I am looking for a 5.1 channel speaker system that can also be plugged into my CD or DVD player or game console for the TV. As for PC, I will buy audigy 4 to pair with this speaker system that I am going to buy.

In that case, I think (although I am not too sure), that I have to look for a system the have built in Dolby decoder like a real home theater system.

Previously, I look at Creative, but I found out that for creative 5.1 system, none has built in dolby decoder. (Am I correct?) Of course it will work great with creative sound card that decode dolby, but... my DVD player in the living room doesn't use a sound card! Please advice me...

Then, I look at logitech. Yes it does have built in dolby, dts, prologic decoder, which I really favor. But, I heard that logitech sound quality is much lower? Is that correct? They said the satelite speakers have very bad unneccessary noise. Please, I am confused now, is it worth it to buy logitech? Is it that bad? I am looking at logitech z-5400 or z-5450 or even better. Please tell me does it sound nice if you really have one... please...

I have not look at Altec Lansing yet, but it's pretty difficult to find information about Altec. How about Edifier, or Sonic Gear? Please guys, if you have any suggestions, advice, or preference please post here and please do explain a bit... They will help me to decide. Thanks.

So have you actually compared Logitech with other speakers? Well, to me, Dolby decoder (built in) is very important...

The Logitech reviews are much better than the other brands.

Yeah... I have just been to newegg.com. Just wondering, the review are talking about creative Audigy 2 zs, about coaxial and digital connection with the logitech z-5500, does Audigy 4 (just Audigy 4, not pro) support the coaxial and digital connection?

If you're going to use it in a small bedroom, you might want to consider a cheap one.

I have a 5.1 surround sound system in my bedroom, I got it from walmart for $45. It's only 100Watts but it's way more than enough for a small space, I can't turn it up all the way, the sound quality is excelent and the bass is amazing.

I have the X-530 system with an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, and I couldn't be more pleased.

With your DVD player, it might have a decoder in it already, have you checked?
