System crashes before windows loads up, why?

I am trying to install windows on a clean formatted hard disk (laptop)

Every time I try to install windows it crashes at various takes of the install, mostly 5 mines after the file copy process has been completed.

My head is telling me the mother board is faulty.

Can I point out that the system worked today, its was just very slow, thats why I decided to format the drive.

I have used a few test program from the herein boot disk, but its cant get any usefull info. I have even wiped the cmos just on the off change

Does anyone know what might be causing this problem, any help would be fab

What model is the laptop, what OS did it have prior to you formatting, and is OS that you want to install- compatible with your system?

maybe overheating? usually shutdown when overheating happens.

Cheers lads, Its turned out to be faulty ram. (thats the first time thats happend to me)
