ms outlook email backup

Hello forum

I am currently running windows ME with outlook express.

After upgrading the hardware slightly I have purchased windows XP and microsoft office 2003

It is imperative that I save all previous emails and contacts so when I format and install xp and office I can view my previous emails in Microsoft outlook.

Can someone please help with this as I can not retrieve them once the format has been done, and need to be certain I have saved them and can view them with the new software

any advide greatly appreciated, thanks in advance
