Default crossfire

If i get a cpu that is SLI ready but I get one X1900 XTX in it, can crossfire also be compatible?

what a cpu thats crossfire ready? its the mobo that needs to be compatible with crossfire! And as long as the gfx card is crossfire compatible it is usable.

no, and i think you meant gpu, not cpu.

No for SLI or Crossfire to work, they have to be two of the exact same GPU.

well not for crossfire, but the card have to be ATI and crossfire compatible to work.

I don’t think that’s true....I have an SLI system, I know before you needed two identical cards, but I am sure now you can mix and match. I’m not sure if it’s the same for crossfire though.

I think most of you forgot to answer the question...

If you have an SLI-Ready motherboard, you can only use it for nVidia's SLI. You need a Crossfire-Ready board to use ATI's Crossfire.
