Default Hard Drive Install issue

I just bought a Hitachi 80G Hard Drive and I jus installed it (physically). I installed it as my slave drive, because I already have a 40G Primary drive which holds all my operating files and what not. So after I put the drive I went to install the drivers from the disk AND from online and for some reason I cant install the drivers. Here are the following screen shots of what happened when I try to install the drivers:

Picture 1: My original drive is the Maxtor 40G, but for some reason it is showing both drives are the Maxtor

Picture 2: This is the message I get when I go to check the drivers

Picture 3: During file transfer

Picture 4: The error message I get after its done transfering files

Picture 5: This what I see after its all done, the highlighted drive is my primary and iti s working fine

Im not sure what to do? I have tried to get the drivers both from the CD and the internet and neither work. So does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

I never even knew you needed drivers for the HDD before

Whenever I have installed my HDD's (PATA, or SATA) I have never needed drivers for them to actually work...

Everytime I have ever installed a hard drive, I just make sure it's either on slave or cable select jumper on the drive and hook it up and go....shouldn't be much to it. If it is a new drive, you need to format it before trying to use it though. I always format anyway if I just get them.

Yeah I formatted it without a problem. Im just going to forget about this whole driver thing, because I dont think it matters, but I do have another question. Say I want all my downloads from this point on to go to the new drive, how would I go about setting this up?

If you're using FireFox, go to:

Tools ==> Options ==> Downloads

Then, select the "Save all files to this folder" radio Button, then select trhe drive location

If you're using IE, whenever you go to download something it should ask you where to save it.

When I installed my PATA drive and tried to make it my slave drive (slave to my SATA HD) I had to reinstall windows with the sata drivers so my PATA drive wouldn't default to master. I don't know if that helps you or not...
