Default Monitor blanking out

My computer's monitor started to blank out every now and then. It then got so bad that it was blanking out several times a minute. I have Win 2000 and the problem didn't occur in Safe Mode. I tried reinstalling the video drivers ( the motherboard is a Foxconn 661MX with built in video card), but the problem still existed. I tried scanning for adware and have ZoneAlarm anti virus.

I thought the problem was a bad motherboard because I have other computers using the monitor though a KVM switch with no problems. I also switched monitor cables, but that didn't fix it. I just got a replacement MB and the problem hasn't gone away completely. My monitor now blanks out just every now and then. Nothing like before.

I can't figure out why it does this. I've never had this problem before. Any ideas??

have you tried running the computer directly connected to the monitor not connected to the KVM switch. i know sometimes those things have problems

You're right. When I did that the problem went away. It sure looked like a software issue since it only happened on a certain computer and independent of the KVM port I used.
