problems overclocking with 3.0c on p4p800 Shaukat Talib

hi ppl.

I have overclocked my 3.0c processor in the past but have recently upgraded my ram to some corsair twinx PC4000pro stuff (3-4-4-8). I have been reading around and it seems that most people can easily reach 250mhz 1:1 no problem. As usual though either my stupidity in the bios settings or more likly my bad luck i can only reach 230mhz.

This does seem stable in game like hl2 but during benchmark tests like 3dmarks2003 in the cpu tests there are lots of "glitches" on screen, and in 3dmarks2005 it lock up all together in the cpu tests. This makes me think that its my cpu thats limiting my progress. I have tried sisoftware sandra cpu, and ram benchmarks and have had no crashes or problems there. In fact even though its only running at 3.45ghz it seems to be on par with the 560 prescott. I guess thats down to the ram running faster.

I have a p4p800 (standard) which alot of you guys seem to have or the deluxe version. I have played around with the voltages but nothing seems to make a difference. So for now i have set my ram timings to 2.5-3-3-5:8. Just wondered wether anyone could help. oh and the cpu never reaches above 50 degrees c under heavy load.

Again any help to get this thing moving even faster would be greatly welcome!!

Notice the way the memory comes stock with higher latencies than others? Thats because the modules are designed to compensate for poorer timings via brute force clock speed. Try loosening your latencies a bit (or a LOT and then when ur done clocking, tighten them up). I assume you've already bumped the Vdimm

Way too tight. Start at CAS4 (or at least CAS3) ... ramp the clock and then when u are satisfied, trim the latencies

Also realize that the actual OCs are dependent on the exact instance of hardware you've got
