Default Purchasing New Camera (Canon/Sony)

Hey, I'm buying a new camera for my mom because our old digital camera uses 2X AA batteries and its a real pain to change them every 30 shots. I am buying the camera from BestBuy and our price range is 250-350 CAD. We want a camera that has a lithium-ion rechargable battery and also uses SD cards. Lastly, we want it to be able to capture pictures quickly (2-3 second delay.)

Current two I'm interested in: http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...02&catid=20226

Thanks

i know its not on your chouices list but thought i would suggest the casio exilim range, i recently bought a 5 megapixel s500 at a great price and its been cracking. Just back from a week in newquay where it was out with me every night, at one point i was snapping non stop so its very fast at taking pics. The battery was fantastic, must have taken 140 pics over 3 days before any need for recharge

My experience with Casio hasn't been the best. My camera took great pictures, but you couldn't zoom into anything without really dropping the shutter speed(poor aperture)

As for those cameras, I'd probably go with the cannon. They usally make very good cameras around this range. Heh, and you know, if you must use an SD card, the Sony uses memory sticks...

I like the Canon the best, we have a Canon, and haven't had a problem with it yet.

I went over to BestBuy today, and to my avail the Samsung 50" Plasma TV I purchased 2 weeks ago dropped $500 dollars in price. So I went to customer service got my 500 dollar credit and purchased the Canon SD600, Kodak 1GB SD Memory Card, 3-Pack Dual Layer 8.5 GB, 10 CD-R's, and Sony HI-FI Stero headphones......for a total of $6.41. (Thank you credit)

Nice, great camera, and like The_Other_One, I would have made the major differential between the SD card and MemoryStick. And I love it when there are price breaks on things you already bought...
