My friend, (the one with the Aptiva) has an AMD Duron 600MHz. Could I upgrade to the1.8GHz Duron?
On a proc, what is the diff between OEM and not OEM? Is there any installing software that doesnt come? |

I meant buying an OEM processor, no box. All I was asking is if there were any software things that usually came with a cpu, that wouldnt come with an OEM
Arent all Durons socket A? If so, wouldnt it fit no matter what the mobo is? Do IBM mobo support OCing? Are they good for it? I dont know what the mobo is, Im going over there tomorrow, I can find out. |

Very few OEM systems have OC support, IBM, HP/Compaq, Dell all don't come with OC support. it reduces the techsupport calls from users who cranked the clock speed without understanding any of what they were doing and keep crashing their system.

1. Buddy buys an OEM 2. Buddy overclocks because his hax0r friends at school tell them its schoo; 3. Buddy fries computer and tries to claim warranty Oh, did I forget to say buddy is a moron? There *are* OEMs that support OCing however if you're considering them them you already know how to OC and to build, dissassemble and reassmble computers
