Question Looking for Decent Motherboard for Conroe

Well, I haven't seen many around. I'm looking for a decent motherboard to go with an E6300.

They need to be LGA775 boards with the 965/975 chipsets (rev 3.04). But they are so expensive! They will probably cost me more than the CPU alone!

Anyway, so I was wondering whether any of you guys could help me pick a decent one out.

I know the ASUS P5W DH DELUXE will support it, but thats $270! Are there any others that will definately support Conroe?

I know of the Bad Axe one which Intel is bringing out, but I can't seem to find it on newegg... When should I expect to see a wide range of boards which support Conroe? One week after it comes out?

Thanks

Thanks for the links guys...

I also found a massive topic with all the listed Conroe Mobo's here: The Conroe boards thread - XtremeSystems Forums

But what I want is a relatively good value motherboard. The ASUS P5W DH Deluxe is brilliant, but it is $270!!

When do you think more of a selection will be available in Newegg? Before Conroe, or after?

BadAxe is the D975XBX. If you go with it make sure it is AA# D27094-304 or AA# D29532-303 or higher. If it is an older version you can mod it to add conroe support: XtremeSystems Forums - View Single Post - Intel D975XBX "Bad Axe" Mod Thread (including "Conroe" support for rev 303 and lower) This has the added side effect of unlocking certain BIOS features (not that the board has bad OCing features by any means). The D975XBX is the board I'll be using when I move over unless a 965 board really catches my eye.

Probably when it's released, I think that there will be cheaper mobos, without all the bells and whistles (as without conroe, the 965/975 are just high end chipsets). I'm sure it won't be long after release to see a sub $100 conroe compatible motherboard, even if it means a non Intel chipset, but I think you'll be able to find one with an Intel chipset anyway for that price.

Have you looked at this board, it's $10 more, and IMO. is much better (WiFi!): ASUS P5W DH DELUXE/WIFI-AP ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail at Newegg.com

Also, on the D975XBX, the placement of that 4-pin Molex is annoying me...

I hope so... I really can't afford to spend more money on a motherboard than I do on a CPU... I'm sure it's meant to be the other way round, lol

I've been very unimpressed with my current Asus board it good but for the price it wasn't worth it. Plus I have no need for WiFi.

Same here, being 15, I'll have like maybe $1000 for my next upgrade, $250 can't be going for a mobo.

Yeah... I think I'm going to have around $800, plus a 7800GT, 200GB SATA and a case lying around, so all I need is the CPU, motherboard and RAM. So I know I will be able to get a $250 Mobo, but I don't want to spend that much money on one.

EDIT: Oh, and I need to buy a PSU too

I want to try and get the whole list sorted for when I fly out to Texas (I'm buying the parts from America (NewEgg), much much cheaper! ). Then I can just get what I want and have fun on my holiday. Build it when I get back to England.
