Nobody can tell you how much youcan OC by since its quite dependent on the exact hardware you've got (not just the brand and model). Since you do have a decent motherboard and non-no-name memory yoou should be ok to go OC for sure. OCing isnt an exact science ... gotta mess around

socket 478 is the type of cpu socket your processor plugs into. it means your p4 has 478 pins. And with decent cooling you should be able to get a fair amount of speed out of it.
