Default GSM Unlocked?

Does anyone know if there is any way to tell if your cell phone is unlocked or not? (Besides inserting a sim chip from a different service provider.) I have a Motorola Razr that I bought in Guatemala but I'm not sure if it is locked or unlocked.

Thanks

The only way to find out, is through inserting a different SIM card of a different operator, or by asking your dealer/carrier. To quote:

But what I do find interesting is why you signed up to a Computer Forum in order to ask a Cellular Phone question... There are much better forums for mobile phone related questions, like HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource

I would find it interesting too. I didn't just sign up to the forum to ask a cell phone question. It was just my first post. I'm much more interested in computers. Anyway, thanks for the answer.

by the way... this is the off topic chat right? ... COMPUTERforum..... cellphones=off topic from computers. At least I posted in the right forum.
