Default Problems with video card upgrade

HI, I'm a noobie here. I'd like to have some of you computer guru help out a lil. I've a laptop Dell Inspiron 8600 with 1.4 Pentium M, 512 MB RAM, 40BG HD, 15.4 UXGA (according to the screen cable), 32MB nVidia vedio car, build-in Intel wireless B, CD-R/ DVD combo. I bought it about Dec, 2003.

I bought a 128MB nVidia GeForce FX Go 5650 and trying to upgrade my laptop. But it seem like my MB is killing those cards. First off, my HD is always so hot. The fan will come on almost every 10-15 mins, even idle. Do you guys think it's a overheat? If so, I'll buy another HD at newegg.com. Is there a posssibility my HD got so heat and make my MB heat and then burn those video card out. I've been through 2 video card from the same company. I'm planning to replace the HD as well. Please give me some advise what will be the problem.

Thanx alot

it's very difficult to replace your notebook's video card and it's not recommended. i think that your laptop may not be compatible with the video card or something like that. but i don't think you should upgrade. BTW you can play games for a very long time on laptops, like 1.5 hours.

The nVidia 5650 can be equip as stock equipment with Inspiron 8600 so it's compatible. Also, the card is pull from a m600. m600 equipment is compatible to Inspiron 8600. Even with my 32MB video card, the fan still come up all the time. My concern is, how possible that my MB or CPU overheated? Or maybe my HD is going south so it makes the MB so hot to burn the video card?
