Default Ibm Thinkpad 600 Bios

I have an old Ibm thinkpad 600 that I want to upgrade to xp. It has windows 2000 professional in it and I would like to upgrade it to xp. The problem is the bios need to be up-dated in order for it to handle xp. Ibm only has the Bios for a floppy and I no longer have a floppy drive. Is there a way I can up-date my Bios using the cd drive? Thanks

Do you have a the floopy disket you need to update your bios... if you do, just get one of those usb floopy drives and it should work.

No, I do not have the floppy, but I can make 1 off of the ibm website in a few minutes time. I'm probably better off just going on ebay because they have used floppy drives for my thinkpad 600 for like $12 shipped. Thanks anyway

ok i have flashed the bios of a thinkpad before in order to install xp and i think its the same thing for u.

On ibms website find bios updates for your machine and there is one for BIOS update diskette and BIOS update - non diskette. The non diskette one is an exe and can be run from XP after which ur machine will reboot. You need a fully charged and working battery pack to install which may be a problem if its expired

Jbennet, I have never messed with Bios on any computer in all of my life so I am kind of lost. I have looked at the exe file for my ibm 600(2645-35u) and it shows that the exe file is for the diskete. If you could maybe give a little more info on how to do this that would be great.

Oh Yeah A Usb Floppy Might Work For Booting The Floppy Bios File. It Does On Mine If I Disable Legacy Floppy Drives (thats The Ultrabay Ones) In The Bios
