Default Dead E-machine

Hi

I have a dead e-machine I need help with. It turns out that the powersupply is bad. I went to the local CompUSA and bought the same watt power supply that is in the PC. Now when I power it up it starts but won't boot into the OS. It appears that the fans are going but not the drives.

Has anyone come across this before? Any suggestions would be welcome

thanks in advance

Try unplugging and replugging all the drives. Go into the BIOS and make sure the drives are being recognized.

Are you sure you got a compatible PSU?

Looks to be the exact same type. The wattage it the same. What else should I look for to be sure?

To be honest, I would not have bought the same power supply that comes in Emachines as they are known to have problems. I would have bought another brand that was compatible. To answer your question, check your power connections to your PSU, motherboard, and all drives.

He didn't buy the same psu, in fact I doubt you could buy an emachings psu at a retail store, he bought the same watt psu. There could be some compatability issues though.

I put an Antec SmartPower 2.0 into my eMachines and it works and fits perfectly.
Triple-check all your power connections. Make sure all the motherboard power sockets have a power supply plug going in each one. The first time I installed mine, I forgot to put in the four-pin CPU power plug next to the CPU and got the same problem you did, Dirkpitt.
