i have some cheap single layer dvd -r . i tried to burn a dvd iso i made that was 4.58Gb. i used DeepBurner and it crashed saying out of space. the thing i dont get is 4.58 is not greater than or equal to 4.7. so are these cheap dvds not truely 4.7? is there a good brand i should get that is actauly 4.7gb?

Yeah i have had that prob before... What burning software you use ?
Because some allow you too do a OVERBURN that gives you a extra couple off MB`s. You might want too look in the settings on your burning software and see if you can use that option.

Even though they say 4.7GB you will only usually get about 4.45 - 4.5GB of useable space

there is no overburn in my software. i could try a diff prgm but if every DVD is some how shy 200mb+/- of 4.7GB i dont see the point. i just need to keep every thing below 4.5gb. that donest seem right tho. should beable to get more like 4.68gb.

here is what the problem.
A MB on a PC is 1024 KB, but on portable elctronics (as mp3s. cells, disc, DVDs, etc) one MB equals 1000 MB. Sp therefor, a MB in a PC is bigger then a MB on a portable device. so now, your DVD is 4.7 GB, but in reality, it is 4.35 (i tihnk its that) MB. so you will want to shrink that, using DVD srink 3.2..... as long as it is a legal cause, you can shrink it. If you have any questions about shrinking, ask me!

yes.....but it strange, the shrinker should let you have it into a 4.35.... but it already happened once to me.
What are you burning btw?
