Booting from cd problem. Sorta

Well a friend wanted me to fix their computer for them so I got the replacement hardware and installed it. Well my problem lies with booting from the cd, sorta.

I press any key to boot from cd and it starts, saying that it is now inspecting the computer, and then it just goes to a blank screen and stops. So I tried a few more times and got the same deal.

I then took the hd out and installed it in my pc and formatted it through windows. Then cleared the cmos on the other system and installed the hd and tried it again and got the same deal.

The hd is from a dell and the mobo is a msi. Everything is installed correctly.

Any help would be great, Bob

Try a new cd-rom. Just borrow it, dont buy it... If it is still having the problem, it is something else like the MOOOOObo.
