Default Best heatsink and fan for socket 478?

HI guys,

I have a pentium 4 2.53 northwood chip that I want to overclock. I am currently running the stock heatsink and fan and have it overclocked to 2.66ghz. However, I would like to push the chip further with a better heatsink and fan. What would be the best to get that would probably get me the most performance out of this chip?

I appreciate your input

i've heard that one is good although i've never used it personally, unfortunately intel chips don't overclock too well, i've over clocked my sempron 1.8 ghz to 2.25 and it still only idles at 37C

I have a coolermaster Jet 4 on my socket 478 Intel Celeron 2.7Ghz OC'd to 3.03Ghz and it doesn't get over 41C, idle is usually around 32-34C.

that could probably be done with only slightly higher tems on stock cooling. that aint much of an oc. for the topic poster, i would go with the typhoon if you have the cash and space.

palmmann didn't think too much of the Jet 4. I raised the OC up to 3.112Ghz, yeah, its probably not much but its about all the 2.7Ghz Celeron liked to do. After 30 minutes using cpu burn and listening to some music, CPU temp went to 46 C and system temp went to 36 C.

Are you sure the temps are causing you not to OC higher? My guess would be that you need to set a lower memory divider, or raise the voltage.

A little better pic. I've heard some bad things about the Jet 4 but I've been pretty satisfied so far with it. $16 too.

not sure specifically about that chip, but 46C isn't really something to worry about, especially when under a load. But it may be holding your oc back, so you never know, aftermarket cooling is always a good upgrade.

Here's a good one, but make sure it'll fit first.
