Broken 7800GTX ?
i bought one off of my friend for $300. i think he overclocked it b/c after 2 months of regular usage by me it started adding fragments and the monitor would turn off (tried other monitors) before it would even get into windows xp.
i think there's not much i can do about it except for ''exchanging'' it for another one....

lower the clock so that its stable again. you might have to go lower than stock if its too messed up.
