Default Xps M170

Im currently bidding on ebay for a XPS M170, there worth new:
1,650.00 USD
1,306.36 EUR
891.646 GBP

current highest bid is my bid of:
£260.99
EUR 382.43
482.664 USD

This one is being sold as faulty because:
Its overheating
has no harddrive
not the proper grapics card
and "sometimes it won't power up unless you apply gentle pressure to the keyboard above the graphics card"

Specs

I think alot of its problems may be caused by the graphics card that is in it (X300) which should be a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7800 GTX

But with all this info in mind what kinda price should I pay for it? keeping in mind that I would have to buy the right graphics card and a harddrive and maybe a battery?

you wont be able to buy the right video card because the video cards that go into laptops are made differently. they are smaller.

You can buy video cards for some, but they usally go for much more than say a desktop version would go. Same goes for harddrives. You have to get 2.5" rather than 2.5". I just don't know, that sounds sketchy, but I'm just not for used laptops to begin with... Too many things to fail.

2.5" rather than 2.5"??? yeah it does sound kinda sketchy but the guy has 99.5% good feedback out off 419 sales and his id has only changed once. another wierd thing is when he says:

I bought this from a company who obtained it from the Dell Service outlet.
isnt the whole point off Dell that you buy it direct from Dell

He meant "you have to get a 2.5 in. rather than 3.5 in."
Most standard internal hard drives (for desktops) are 3.5"
A typo, I'm sure the_other_one

I'm not very good at judging a computer's worth(because I'm so cheap) but it's really up to how much you wish to spend. I looked on ebay and a 7800GTX costs about $330 for that machine. A decent sized HD off ebay would probably be around $50. So, that's almost $400 right off just to get it running. Does it come with a battery? One that works? Why does it overheat? What condition is the laptop in?

I sent the guy a message and he said it doesnt have the battery but it comes with the caddie aand its the graphics card fault that it over heats, it says that it ran perfect when it had the correct graphics card.

cosmetically it's in really good condition except a small mark on the top lid which looks like someone tried to polish it. The screen has no scratches on it. Aside from the problems I described above everything else works great.
