Default keeping my computer cool

ok so in my desk i have a little CPU compartment and i lined the inside of it with sound dampening material. but im afraid its going to get warm in there since there isnt any openings or anything. so what i was thinking about doing was take 2 or 3 120mm computer fans and building them in to the back of the compartment. then adding a fan controller to the front, or even one that is built into my desk so i can control the fans that are on the back. but how would i get wire long enough to do it? do they make extenders for the fan wire?
this is the fan controller i was thinking about getting.
link

please let me know if this is even possible. thanks!

well, some fans come with an extension, ussually both for molex and 3-pin connector.
But i dont really get what you want to do....not sure if i understand.

ill try to explain better.

in my desk i have a cabinet that my computer goes into. it just is a hole thats 2 feet tall 2 feet deep and 1 foot wide. and it has a door on it. its just a place that i put my computer so that you cant see it and its out of the way. but in the cabinet there is no ventilation at all. so im afraid my computer will get hot because of that. in my computer i have 1 120mm fan in the front for an intake, then an 80mm fan on the side for an exhaust, and another 120mm fan on the back for an exhaust. so its going to be blowing quite a bit of air around. so for that in the cabinet i took some sound dampening material (like what you put in your car to make stuff from not rattleing) and i put 2 layers of it all on the inside of the cabinet. to keep the noise down. so what i was thinking about getting to keep it cool in the computer cabinet is a fan controller for some fans that i could build into my actual desk. so it would be behind my computer in the cabinet thats in my desk. what i wanted to do is put 2 or 3 120mm fans built right into my desk as an exhaust to pull that air out of there. and then on the top of my desk. like where my monitor is, i would build a fan controller into my hutch so that i could control the 2 or 3 fans that are built into my desk. now my concern lies in the fact that i dont know if i can get a cable that will be long enough to reach the PSU the fan and the fan controller. but it seems like a really good idea so i thought i would look into it. so if anyone knows if they make a fan cable that is about 3-4 feet long let me know. otherwise i think ill have to have my electrical engineer of a friend make them for me.
thanks for the long read!
let me know!

ok, so you want some computer fans out of your pc, to shoot fresh air into your box (where your computer is) ?
ok,......that sounds complicating. one ting you could do, is cut a peice out of your door 9of the cabinet thing) and replace it wit a little plastic thing. that will let good air in, and look tidy.

but i even wanted to add fans to the back of the cabinet thing to take air out. it would keep things cooler if you actually pull air out rather than push air in.

yes, but you already have a few fans, having tons of them wont do so great.
what you need, is air that will enter properly form your cabinet.

btw, tell us your temparature. downlaod the freewear speedfan, at www.softpedia.com, and tell us your CPU temp, and your Hard drive temps.

i dont have the computer yet, im going to be ordering the parts from newegg tomorrow i hope. and how are fans taking air out of the cubby not a good idea? the more air movement the better...kinda. seeing how fans really dont cool the air they just cool the moisture in the air.

ya....fans pretty much simply puch the air out. Well, why not wait for your PC to come, post a picture of it (with a side panel off) and lets get this PC cooling. with a pic we can see better whats going on. and plus i doubt you will get overheating and crash by simply being on the net! lol

Putting a/some fan(s) into the cupboard is a VERY good idea. Ideally, you want one as an intake at the front, and an exhaust at the back. No point having an exhaust if air cant get INTO the cabinet.

I would also suggest turning off the side fan. The air's being blown straight out int the side, so its going to spread out. It's going to spread up, down, right and left. The warm air that goes left simply gets sucked back in.

when i took earth science in college we went over air movement to tempurature. and one of the things he said was in order to get a colder temp you need less air causing the molecules to be further apart creating less friction therefore less heat or in this case tempuratue. now if you just have air flow the yes it is going to get newer cooler fresher air into the cubby but it wont get its maximum low tempurature. now inside a computer you need to have air flow for so it can get air out of every little part of the case. but with such a set object like the rectangular cubby with a smaller rectangle (the computer) in it it would be just as good to just have soley an exhaust. now remember the cubby is still going to get fresh air. the door on the front isnt completely sealed so it will have air from the crack coming into the cubby. i think in this case i will try just the exhaust in the back of my desk. so what im asking is if anyone knows if they make a cable that would be longer for a fan, or should i just have my friend make extend it for me? im going to build a wood box that matches my desk underneith a shelf that will have the fan controller in it. so i need the cable to go from the power supply, to the fan and to the fan controller. it seems like it would be easier to control with a fan controller rather than a program like speedfan or something. for more control on the go. but please let me know about that cable. thank you.

EDIT: i just thought of another great example of how pressure and temp relate. for example you get yourself in death valley in california. the average summer high is about id say anywhere from 110-115 or so, either way HOT partly it has to do with the fact that the pressure is so high at that location. now climb up some mountain where there will be very little air. the molecules are going to be further apart. so its going to be MUCH cooler. just another example for you tho.
