Default blinking cursor

i have a blinking cursor on boot-up, i did put this HD in my Inspiron, 2 install 2000 on this HD, the 1 from my Solo, because it has no CD-ROM drive. i did have "NTDLR is missing", on my Inspiron, could this be why im getting a blinking cursor on my Solo? and should i install 2000 again?

nevermind, im good now, had 2 reformat.

i was on Microsoft.com, and they said it's because you went over 98, or ME with the installation of 2000.

That error is caused by lots of silly things, generally its easiest although not often quickest to do what you did

you can NOT install xp on one note book and put THE hd in another. XP has something called a HAL that it creates from the hardware it finds. It is possible to do an inplace install to create a new HAL, you would need a cd drive though. Also you can only use XP once unless you were using the cdkey on the bottom of your notebook. Expect to have to call MS.
