i take the fan apart from the heatsink and clean it
and then put them back together .... it's not really dangerous !
and i use that thing the maid uses to clean the dust off wood surfaces and stuff i don't know what it's called.

I've cleaned my fan/heatsink with compressed air before while it was still on the CPU. Like this type of compressed air:

If you take it off the CPU than you might have to reapply thermal grease.

Remove it from the heatsink, give it a good dusting, then give the heatsink a good dusting, then reattach it.

think about it... 2 7900GTs:
7900+7900=15800
that is obviously a much higher number than 7950...

i take the fan out, than spray it. i sometimes hit the insides of the computer, not straight into it, like on an angle.

i usually take the HSF off the CPU and plunge it into a big bucket of clean water, swoosh it around for a bit, gets the dust/dirt out of all the tiny corners that compressed air cant get to.

Leave it in the airing cupboard for a few hours make sure its dry and back on it goes.
