Speaker static woes...I need help

I bought a set of Monsoon MM-702 speakers for my comp. Had them for about 2 years. Recently I have noticed that they will crackle and sputter horribly if I turn up the audio on the volume control dial. Some times the left speaker will kill out or sound very muffled. They absolutely HATE any kind of "generic rock" anything that has really heavy electic guitar in it or loud singing.

Help me out please, I don't know how much longer I can listen to classical...
