Default Disc Drive problems

Hi,
I have a regular Disc Drive with a CDR-RW burner. Today I bought a printer and realized that the disc would totally stop spinning during installation and would freeze. And sometimes the Disc Drive would recognize a disc but not play it or open it. I even went to my computer-CD drive D etc. and nothing happened. You can hear it spin up to speed then stop and it repeats those steps. What can be done or should be done or do I need a whole new DD? And the software isn't available online so I need to install it.
-Thanks, JTM

Default

open up and check the connections first, ensure that power and data cable are both pushed in tightly
