Smile Dell Xps 400

I am thinking about purchasing the DELL XPS 400, specs are:

Pentium® D Processor 940 with Dual Core Technology (3.20GHz, 800FSB)

Genuine Windows® XP Media Center 2005 Edition

256MB nVidia GeForce 7900 GS

1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz- 2DIMMs

250GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/ 8MB cache

I was just wondering, If I get this will I be able to play games like Half-Life2, Doom3, Battelfield2 and COunter-strike source on high setting at 800x600 resolution? Or will it lag?

Thanks in advance,
Beefdawg

Lol yeah, how much is that costing you? You'll be able to play those games at the settings you mentioned but you're probably also paying way too much for that computer.

Haha you read my mind, seriously though you are very limited in what you can do with a dell, especially with core 2 chips out now you could build a comp for the same price, if not less, that would blow right past that comp, how much is that config anyway?

Sorry about asking the same question, we were responding at the same time.

Ya dells aren't bad for e-mail, word processing and internet, but when it comes to gaming, yikes. Wouldn't even go with alienware, way overpriced.

They are not bad for e-mail, internet, gaming, etc... just bad for the price you have to pay for it not to be bad at gaming.

$750 worth of extras? , you can get a good 19: lcd for $250 and very nice mouse and keyboard for $100, good 5.1 speakers $50 and then you have $1200 to put into a comp.
