I was burning a picture cd to use at my local cvs to get digital prints

i was on my cousins laptop since it was his camera that had the pictures and i didnt feel like getting drivers for my computer for his camera...anyway so what i did was i went into my computer and went to the removeable disk drive, highlighted the pics i wanted and copy and pasted them into my D: drive but usually on my computer the files become temporary until i choose to burn em on the disc but on his computer as soon as i copied em to the D: drive his drive LED began to flash so i assumed it was burning em


ok so i give to my aunt so she can go to cvs or w/e and get the pics but the machine wouldnt take the cd and the clerk there said it was because it was a black cd-r (i have a the memorex black CD-Rs and it was obviously a bs excuse cuz the guy didnt kno what was goin on)...so when she got home i popped into my computer and there were no files so i thought oh well maybe his computer didnt burn em after all so i let it go and put the thought to be blank CD-R back on the stack where it came from.......so today i was burning some of my own pics on a cd so i popped in the one that i thought was blank but when i put it in my pc wasnt allowing me to burn any pics on it cuz supposedly it wasnt a blank cd or it was full...so im startin to believe that the pics are on it but theyre like hidden or something and i want to access em....does anyone have some advice????

This is not my forte but I came across some digital image software some time ago, Zero Assumption. There are other progs around, hopefully someone will post a recommendation for you. If you Google "digital image recovery" no quotes you will find more for sure.

i tried the software u said and it only can be used on memory cards or my hard drive where as my issue is with a CD...thanks tho

Sorry, I misunderstood what you were doing. I don't get how you got the files from his laptop to your pc. You say you got the pics on to your d: drive. How does this removeable drive fit in the picture? Did you transfer the files from the laptop directly or from the removeable drive (in which case why would the laptop be burning anything?).

Where are those files now? If you did not delete them they will still be on your d: drive. Sure, if you burn a cd from your d: drive you would delete the files after. Did you delete them thinking you had burned them on the laptop cd burner?

sorry i think u misunderstood, lemme break it down with no story

My cousins camera has pics on it taken sunday that my aunt wants to show her friend on thursday, however my cousin is leaving monday so i need to copy these photos from his camera onto a cd for further use

i use my cousins laptop to copy the pics from the camera to a cd, in my computer i drag the pics from the removable disk E: drive into my D: drive and i assume its burning them on my CD-R as the led on the physical drive in blinking

i give this to my aunt and she breings it to CVS to get digital prints and it doesnt work

assuming it is a blank CD-R i put it back on the stack i have and leave it

yesterdayi try to put files on the same CD-R thinking its blank, however my computer wont allow me to as it is either not blank or completly full

this makes me think that the files are on the disc but they are hidden or soemthing

Thanks for explaining in detail. First of all, I assumed your d: drive was a hard drive. You did not say it was a cd drive although now that explains the flashing lights business (hard drives can have activity lights too).

You know that the pics were copied on to the cd that was burned on the laptop because you could drag them to your d: drive. Why can't you use that cd? Why bother making another in the first place?

If the files were transferred from the cd in the E: drive directly to a blank cd in the D: drive, that is a fairly risky operation. If there was a problem during the burn, I suggest you examine the cd with Isobuster. If you can see the files you can extract them to your hard drive and start afresh.

Commenting generally, if you ever dump files on to a disk, check the disk contains what you expect and is readable, and especially before you delete the files from the source. Absolutely essential with cd to cd transfer. I use CD/DVD Speed, Scan Disc test to check mine. While you are there get the Nero Info Tool too. That can be useful. I never transfer between cds, I dump to the hard drive and then burn the cd. Cd to cd is OK providing you check afterwards.

starman i think u still misundetand me a bit still but that program did the trick however its not worth the 25 bucks but thanks for ur help

I did not recommend anything that costs money, all was freeware. What are you referring to?
