Default Problem with RAM ... need some help

Ok, my mobo is a MSI KT6V, AMD Athlon 2100+ XP Processor .... anyway i have had this comp for some time now and i have always had 2 sticks of PC2300 512mb. Well my mobo only has 2 slots of RAM and to upgrade to 2GB of RAM soon I bought a 1GB stick to replace my x2 512MB sticks. But with this new stick when i get into windows and start doing things everything freezes up, then i have to restart. It wouldnt quit doing this so i put my 512sticks back in and everything works fine. And yes i am sure my mobo supports 1GBsticks. Here the specs of my mobo to see for yourself. http://www.msicomputer.com/product/d...model=KT6V-LSR Also i am sure its the right RAM (pc3200, sticker says * 1GB, DDR DIMM, Q*)
So i'm not to sure of what is going on here but if someone can explain how i can make it work or if its just a bad stick of RAM, i hope its not bad seeing as how i paid $85 for it.

Could you post the link to the RAM you got?

The problem could be a power supply issue.

Heres what your mobo states
• Supports DDR400/333/266/200 SDRAM

Heres your RAM
PNY Optima 1GB PC3200 DDR DIMM Memory

hmmm your RAM is DDR 400 so this is rather strange.
