Well, I'm willing to put my budget at approx. $1300.
This is my first build, utilizing my 'average' knowledge of computers. Reviwing many of the walk-thrus and whatever I could research online, I THINK I have a good lineup setup for a gaming comp at my budget. PLEASE SUGGEST ANY CHANGES TO THE FOLLOWING IF ANY NEED BE: Mobo: MSI K9N Platinum Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 Ultra MCP ATX AMD Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130049 CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Windsor 2000MHz HT 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Dual Core Processor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103747 Vid Card: Update eVGA 256-P2-N567 Geforce 7900GT KO Superclocked 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130016 Memory: *edit* Changed to: pqi TURBO 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model PQI26400-2GDB http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/...82E16820141064 from: CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model Twinx2048-3200c2pt http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145575 Power: Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-500 ATX12V 500W Power Supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103937 Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 SATA NCQ 3Gb/s ST3160812AS 160GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148105 Case: COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-UB Black /Blue Aluminum Bezel , SECC Chassis ATX Mid Tower Computer Case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119047 OS: Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 w/SP2 - OEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116049 Also: Sony CD-Rom, Samsung floppy, D-Link Ethernet card, and Creative Soundblaster card... Total, including Shipping, without changes is: 1280.98 ____ A) Suggestions or things to change? B) I have an extra Fan handy, but any other extra cooling suggestions? C) Anything missing? THANK YOU for all help & suggestions. Last edited by twolves90; 08-04-2006 at 02:56 AM. |

since you are building an am2 system you can use ddr2 memory so you should change that.

Nice build. the only thing I would change would be the GPU. my radeon x1650 can nearly match the 7900gt. Go for a 8800gt or 9600gt, or if you prefer ati: the 4350 or 4670.

Wow. I was going to comment that those components were a bit old for a $1300 build. lol
Another epic revival for linkin93...
