Default Help! What Should I Do?

i need to transfer 80gb to me my new pc, but heres the problem, it won't start-up right. the old pc comes on very slow and when it finally comes on, the task bar at the bottom won't come on. the only reason why i need to, is because of all the pics and music i need to get out.

i don't want to restore the pc before getting all the data out first!
should i store the data on a separate hard drive, to be transfer to my new pc.

i want give this pc to my aunt, before i get the pc that's going to replace this one.

do not use windows for the transfer. If windows for one reason or another bombs you do not know what was transfered or how far. I use to use windows to do that and it is fustratting, maybe if it is all pics or something it may work.
I like to use this program and it is free for 30 days

connect up the old HD in place of the master cdrom drive , that way you will not have to set any jumpers on either HD.

It should support IDE HDD's, so it should be possible, just set the IDE to slave by setting the right jumper settings.
